Before you email us, a quick data-protection note
Please do not include any pupil names, dates of birth, staff names, or specific plan content in your email. Describe the issue generically (for example, “a plan I was editing this afternoon” rather than “Sam Jones's plan”). Each “email us” link below will open your email client with this reminder already in the body. If pupil data is accidentally included, we treat it as personal data under our Data Processing Addendum and delete it once the query is resolved.
Safeguarding concerns about a child
If you have a safeguarding concern about a child, contact your school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) immediately.
Assistant SENDCo is a plan-writing tool. It does not monitor, detect, or route safeguarding concerns. Your school's safeguarding procedures are the correct route for any concern about a child's welfare.
If you are unsure who your DSL is, contact your headteacher. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
Inappropriate AI-generated content
AI responses are automatically filtered for harmful content before being shown to you. If a response does get through that you consider inappropriate, offensive, or unsuitable for an educational context:
- Do not accept the suggestion into your plan
- Email us at george@progress55.co.uk with a description of what you saw and approximately when it happened (no pupil data please — see the reminder above).
We log AI interactions (without plan content) in our audit trail, so we can investigate and improve our safety filters.
Data protection concerns
If you believe there has been a data breach, or you have concerns about how data is being handled, you have the right to complain to us directly and free of charge. We acknowledge data protection complaints within 30 days of receiving them, and usually much sooner, then investigate and respond without undue delay.
Where the complaint concerns pupil information in a support plan, the school is the data controller and we act as its processor — we will pass the complaint to the school without undue delay, tell you we have done so, and support the school's handling of it. Where it concerns staff account details, sign-ups, or product feedback, we are the controller and handle it ourselves from start to finish.

- Contact your school's DPO: Your school's Data Protection Officer can raise concerns with us on your behalf and has a direct line under our Data Processing Agreement
- Contact the ICO: If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113
Security vulnerabilities
If you discover a security vulnerability in Assistant SENDCo, please report it responsibly:
- Email george@progress55.co.uk with details of the vulnerability
- Do not publicly disclose the vulnerability until we have had a reasonable opportunity to address it
- Do not access or modify data belonging to other users
We take all security reports seriously and will acknowledge receipt within 2 working days.
